David Beale

David practices mainly in the areas of commercial,  business and property law and with more than 30 years in legal practice has a sound knowledge of the concerns facing businesses and how to resolve these.

Prior to forming Robinson Beale with Craig Robinson in 1989 David worked for medium sized and large city firms and was a corporate lawyer with Amatil Limited (now Coca Cola Amatil Limited) for 4 years. 

David has arts and law degrees from the University of Sydney.  He is an accredited business law specialist and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Businesses from a wide range of industries ask David for advice on all types of commercial activities, from their day to day contract negotiation and drafting to complex matters such as acquisitions, disposals and structuring.  David is particularly interested in using his legal and negotiating skills to achieve the desired commercial outcomes.  He has experience in the buying and selling of businesses and companies, shareholder agreements, business structures, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, intellectual property, franchising and employment issues. 

David also has a large property practice and is involved in the buying, selling and leasing of commercial and industrial property.  David also has a wide range of private clients and assists them with property transactions, estate planning and asset protection.  Above all David tries to understand his clients’ needs and to come up with legal and strategic solutions.

In recent times David has:

• Drafted shareholder agreements and share option agreements for the founders of a new business in the water industry as well as the supply agreements and customer agreements for that new company;
• Acted for a food manufacturing company on the sale and lease back of a multi-million dollar property;
• Assisted a client successfully exit an acrimonious joint venture arrangement; and
• Acted on the sale of a clothing company owned in a complex unit trust structure.

David is married with three children, is an enthusiastic sportsman both as a participant (cricket, golf and soccer) and as a spectator.

David has recently been the President of the School Council of the Manly West Public School and the Vice President of the North Sydney Chamber of Commerce.
